About Navigation Events:

During the StreetWise Partners Navigating the Bridge program, one-time volunteers will work with small groups of mentees during targeted sessions to help them understand and develop essential skills that they will need to successfully complete their job search.

Each session will include short facilitator-led content reviews and facilitator-led discussions followed by time for volunteers to work with small groups of mentees to complete activities and lead discussions focusing on the topic for that week.

We are currently accepting applications for the following Winter 2025 opportunities:
  • Goal Setting - January 14th & 15th: Discuss the importance and benefits of goal setting. Explore how personal/professional strengths connect to creating and attaining goals. Practice creating SMART Goals for fictional job-seekers.
  • Tech in the Job Search - January 21st & 22nd: Discuss how general technology tools are currently being used in mentee job searches. Explore tips and best practices for using general technology tools in the job search. Discuss suggestions for using technology in the job search ethically and responsibly.
  • Job Search - February 4th & 5th: Discuss current mentee job search practices. Describe the steps necessary to complete a successful job search. Explore ways to stay positive during the job search. Create a sample job search plan. Identify proper etiquette for the job search. Discuss how to avoid scams during the job search.
  • Networking - February 18th & 19th: Introduce the elevator pitch and discuss tailoring it to different networking situations. Practice creating and tailoring a sample elevator pitch. Discuss informational interviews and their importance in the job search. Practice preparing to conduct an informational interview. Discussed personal branding and developed a personal branding strategy.
  • Interview skills - March 11th & 12th: Introduce behavioral-based interview questions. Introduce the STARR Method. Practice using the STARR Method to answer behavioral-based questions. Explore discriminatory in
